St. Luke’s Medical Center–Quezon City has introduced the Philippines’ first TrueBeam Edge radiotherapy system, a next-generation cancer treatment device manufactured by Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company. The system’s installation marks a significant upgrade in the hospital’s radiation oncology capabilities, as reported by BusinessWorld.
The TrueBeam Edge integrates imaging, beam delivery, motion management, and patient positioning into a single platform, enabling sub-millimeter precision in radiation therapy. This level of accuracy allows clinicians to target tumors more effectively while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue, potentially improving outcomes for patients undergoing radiotherapy.
The introduction of this system expands access to advanced cancer treatment in the country, as St. Luke’s Medical Center–Quezon City becomes the first facility in the Philippines to offer this technology. The hospital aims to leverage the system’s capabilities to treat a wider range of cancers and enhance the quality of care for its patients.
