The Department of Agriculture (DA) urged the country’s ube stakeholders to create an industry group that would unify local producers, processors and exporters under a common agenda, as reported by Philstar Biz.
The proposed group aims to strengthen the ube value chain, from farming to export, and help local players compete more effectively in domestic and international markets. Ube, a popular purple yam, is a key crop in the Philippines with growing demand abroad.
Stakeholders are expected to discuss the formation of the group in upcoming meetings, with the DA offering support for organizational logistics and market linkage initiatives.
