Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo has announced plans to expand its store count in India to more than 100 by 2031, a fivefold increase from current levels, according to Inside Retail Asia.
The company currently operates about 20 stores in India and aims to accelerate growth by entering new cities and expanding in existing markets. Uniqlo's parent, Fast Retailing, sees India as a key growth market amid rising consumer demand for value-driven apparel.
The expansion reflects broader confidence in India's retail sector, where international brands are scaling up to capture a larger share of the country's young and increasingly affluent population. Uniqlo's strategy includes localized product offerings and a strong online-to-offline presence.
