Visa has announced the rollout of Garmin Pay in the Philippines, enabling users of compatible Garmin smartwatches to make contactless payments at participating merchants. According to YugaTech , the feature supports Visa credit and debit cards issued by select Philippine banks, expanding the digital payment options for wearable device users in the country.

Garmin Pay works by storing card information on the watch, allowing users to tap their device at any NFC-enabled terminal that accepts Visa contactless payments. Compatible devices include Garmin's Forerunner, Venu, and Fenix series, among others. Users must have a Visa card enrolled in their Garmin Pay wallet, with transactions protected by Visa's tokenization technology.

The launch comes as contactless payment adoption grows in the Philippines, driven by increasing smartphone and wearable usage. Visa's move aims to provide consumers with more convenient and secure payment methods, especially for on-the-go transactions. No specific timeline for additional bank support was provided, but Visa expects more issuers to join the service in the coming months.
