Hong Kong supermarket chain Wellcome has opened new retro-concept stores in Kennedy Town and Sim City, according to a report by Inside Retail Asia.
The stores are designed to evoke the nostalgia of old Hong Kong through immersive shopping experiences. Retro elements include vintage signage, traditional decor, and curated product selections reflecting historical local favorites, aiming to attract both residents and tourists.
This launch is part of Wellcome’s broader strategy to differentiate its physical stores against growing online grocery competition, blending nostalgia with modern convenience to strengthen customer loyalty and drive foot traffic in urban locations.
