LVMH has returned to growth after a prolonged slowdown, according to a report by Inside Retail Asia. The luxury conglomerate posted a modest sales increase in the latest quarter, ending a streak of declines that had raised concerns about the health of the high-end market.
However, the recovery is uneven. The upturn is largely concentrated in the United States and a handful of European markets, while key Asian markets, particularly China, continue to see weak demand. Within LVMH’s portfolio, fashion and leather goods led the rebound, while wine and spirits remained under pressure from destocking.
The narrow basis of the recovery suggests that broader consumer confidence has not yet returned. Analysts caution that sustained growth will require a wider geographic and category-based improvement. LVMH’s performance is closely watched as a bellwether for the luxury sector.
