ABOITIZ POWER CORP. (AboitizPower) is seeking to develop a P8.44-billion wind farm in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, according to documents filed with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and reported by BusinessWorld.
Luzon Cleanergy Generation, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Aboitiz Renewables, Inc., has proposed to develop a 132.8-megawatt (MW) wind power project. The project is expected to contribute to the company's renewable energy portfolio and support the government's goal of increasing the share of clean energy in the power mix.
The wind farm is part of AboitizPower's broader strategy to expand its renewable energy capacity. The company has been investing in various clean energy projects, including solar, hydro, and geothermal, as it aims to achieve a 50:50 balance between its renewable and thermal power generation by 2030.
