Coconut exports this year may surpass the $3.57 billion record high set in 2025 despite production being weighed down by the incoming El Niño weather event, an official of the Philippine Coconut Authority said, as reported by Philstar Biz.
The official noted that the anticipated increase is driven by strong global demand for coconut products such as coconut oil, copra, and desiccated coconut. Despite the potential impact of El Niño on production volumes, the value of exports is expected to rise due to favorable market prices and expanded processing capacity.
