The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has raised concerns over the continued operation of unaccredited Philippine Schools Overseas (PSOs) that compete for Filipino students abroad, warning that it may lead to difficulties in credential validation and transfer when students return to the Philippines, as reported by BusinessWorld .

According to a CFO official, the lack of accreditation from Philippine authorities for these overseas schools could result in the non-recognition of academic records by the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) once students seek to enroll in Philippine institutions. This poses a significant risk for Filipino families who may unknowingly enroll their children in schools without proper government oversight.

The CFO called on Filipino communities abroad to verify the accreditation status of Philippine Schools Overseas through official channels before enrolling students. The agency also reiterated the importance of compliance with Philippine educational standards to safeguard the academic future of overseas Filipino children.
