Locators under the BusinessWorld reported that Clark Development Corp. (CDC) locators raised concerns about the ease-of-doing-business impact of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DoLE) decision to strip regional offices of the power to process work permits for foreigners.

The concerns were aired during discussions on DoLE Administrative Order No. 199, which centralizes the processing of alien employment permits in Metro Manila. Locators worry that the move will lead to delays and added costs, undermining the competitiveness of the Clark Freeport Zone.

CDC officials said they are seeking dialogue with DoLE to address the locators' apprehensions and ensure that the permit processing remains efficient, given Clark's role as a key economic hub. The agency emphasized its commitment to maintaining a business-friendly environment in the zone.
