BAGUIO CITY — The Baguio Water District (BWD) is implementing supply adjustments across several villages in Baguio City as groundwater production continues to decline, raising concerns over water availability amid the delayed onset of rains, Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong said in BusinessWorld.

Mr. Magalong said BWD General Manager Salvador Royeca reported a drop in the rated capacity of the district’s wells, forcing the water district to reduce supply and implement rotational water scheduling in affected areas. The mayor did not specify which villages are most affected but assured residents that the BWD is monitoring the situation closely.

The decline in groundwater output comes as the city awaits the start of the rainy season, which typically replenishes underground water sources. Water conservation measures are being urged for residents and businesses as the BWD continues to assess the long-term impact on the city’s water supply.
