The Bureau of Customs (BOC) posted a record revenue surplus of P11.3 billion as of June 2, according to a report from Philstar Biz . The surplus comes as the agency aims to hit a newly raised P1-trillion collection target for the year, driven by tighter assessments and improved collection efficiency.

The early surplus reflects the BOC's intensified enforcement measures and digitalization efforts, which have reduced leakages and improved revenue collection. Customs officials have credited better valuation and classification of imported goods, as well as stricter monitoring of shipments, for the positive performance.

With the surplus already exceeding expectations, the BOC is on track to surpass its annual target, which was increased from P900 billion. The agency's continued focus on transparency and automation is expected to sustain revenue growth in the coming months.
