The Department of Agriculture (DA) has lifted the temporary ban on imported poultry products from Argentina, according to a report by Philstar Biz. The ban was initially imposed in March 2025 after an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Argentina.
The DA's decision follows assurances from Argentine veterinary authorities that the disease has been contained and that the affected areas have been cleared for trade. The lifting of the ban applies to frozen poultry meat, day-old chicks, and other poultry products from the South American country.
With the ban lifted, local importers can resume sourcing poultry from Argentina, which helps diversify the Philippines' poultry supply and potentially ease domestic prices. The DA continues to monitor the avian influenza situation globally and may adjust restrictions as needed.
