The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said it will open up suitable forest land for investment, potentially generating P38 trillion in production value from sustainable forestry projects, according to BusinessWorld.
The projected P38 trillion in production value is expected to accumulate from 2027 to 2052, with contributions from agroforestry and tree plantations. The DENR's move is part of efforts to attract private capital into the country's forestry sector while maintaining environmental safeguards.
The agency said it will identify suitable forest areas for investment, balancing economic development with conservation goals. The initiative is expected to create livelihood opportunities and support the government's reforestation targets.
