The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has recognized initiatives that bring reliable mobile connectivity to underserved and geographically isolated communities, honoring efforts that help bridge the country's digital divide during its Digital Bayanihan Awards, Philstar Biz reported.
The awards highlighted projects that expanded connectivity in remote areas, addressing the digital divide that limits access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. The DICT underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving universal connectivity.
Winners of the Digital Bayanihan Awards included telecommunications companies, local government units, and community organizations that deployed mobile towers, satellite internet, and other solutions to bring internet access to far-flung barangays. The DICT said it will continue to support similar initiatives through policy and funding.
