THE Department of Energy (DoE) said it plans to conduct another pre-bid conference for its planned auction of coal resources this month, according to a report by BusinessWorld.

“Right now, we are scheduled to have a pre-bid conference, we hope within the month,” Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin told reporters last week. The department is working to finalize the terms and schedule of the auction, which aims to award coal operating contracts to interested developers.

The coal auction is part of the government’s efforts to ensure energy security by developing domestic coal resources. The DoE earlier postponed the bidding process and has yet to announce a new target date for the award of contracts.
