The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said that transport network vehicle service (TNVS) riders and drivers can claim benefits from a program linked to the Social Security System (SSS), according to Philstar Biz.
Under the program, qualified riders and drivers may seek income and medical assistance for work-related injuries. The initiative is seen as a safety net for TNVS workers, who are often classified as informal sector workers and may lack access to traditional employment-based benefits.
DOLE encouraged eligible TNVS workers to apply and take advantage of the program. The agency said the SSS-linked scheme is part of broader efforts to extend social protection to gig economy and platform workers in the Philippines.
