The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced it will soon deploy additional rolling stores across Metro Manila as part of its ongoing effort to stabilize prices and improve access to basic goods, as reported by Philstar.com.
The rolling stores, which bring rice, eggs, vegetables, and other essential items directly to communities, aim to undercut prices at traditional markets and sari-sari stores. DTI officials said the expansion will target high-density areas such as Quezon City, Manila, and Caloocan, with at least 20 new mobile units rolling out in the coming weeks.
The initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to curb inflation and ease the burden on consumers. The DTI previously operated similar mobile markets during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and is now reviving the program as global supply chain pressures continue to push up food prices.
