The Department of Energy (DoE) has received no response from 121 of 203 power generation companies (GenCos) that were issued show-cause orders, Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin said at a briefing on Monday, as reported by BusinessWorld.

The DoE issued the show-cause orders to GenCos that allegedly failed to comply with power supply obligations, including low dispatch rates and unplanned outages. Secretary Garin noted that the agency is now exploring further investigation and possible penalties for the non-responding companies, which could include fines or revocation of certificates of compliance.

The development comes amid ongoing efforts to ensure energy security and reliability in the Philippines. The DoE's actions underscore its regulatory mandate to hold GenCos accountable for their performance, especially during periods of high demand or grid instability.
