The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported that agricultural production increased 2.9% year-on-year in the second quarter, driven by growth in crops, livestock, poultry, and fisheries. The value of agriculture and fisheries production at constant 2018 prices rose to P452.22 billion from P439.66 billion in the same period last year.

The PSA attributed the expansion to higher yields across all major subsectors, with crop and livestock output leading the gains. Poultry and fisheries also posted positive growth during the quarter, reflecting sustained demand and improved farm conditions.

BusinessWorld reported the PSA data, citing the continued recovery of the agriculture sector as the government pushes for higher food production and rural income. The quarterly report serves as a key measure of the sector's contribution to the Philippine economy.
