The Far Eastern University Institute of Technology (FEU Tech) announced on Friday a partnership with OpenAI to become an artificial intelligence (AI)-native university. “AI is no longer an optional skill for students or faculty. The opportunity here is leadership,” FEU Tech Senior Executive Director Benson Tan said in a statement reported by BusinessWorld.

Under the partnership, FEU Tech will integrate OpenAI’s tools, such as ChatGPT, into its curriculum and administrative processes. The initiative aims to equip students with practical AI skills and prepare faculty to incorporate AI into teaching. The university plans to serve as a model for other institutions in the Philippines exploring AI adoption in education.

The move comes as educational institutions worldwide grapple with the impact of generative AI on learning and assessment. FEU Tech’s early embrace of AI tools signals a strategic shift toward embedding technology into the core educational experience, potentially influencing national discussions on AI readiness in the academic sector.
