More than half of adult Filipinos are willing to live or work overseas for better job prospects, higher pay and improved living standards, according to a survey by OCTA Research. The findings, reported by BusinessWorld, show that 57% of adult Filipinos expressed openness to migrating overseas in the firm’s first-quarter survey.
OCTA Research Director Ranjit S. Rye said the figure indicates that migration remains a mainstream aspiration among Filipinos. The survey was conducted from March 24 to 30, with 1,200 respondents nationwide and a margin of error of ±3%.
The results highlight persistent economic challenges that drive Filipinos to seek opportunities abroad. The Department of Migrant Workers has reported steady increases in overseas employment applications, with many citing better pay and career growth as primary motivations.
