GCash is set to introduce a feature that will allow users to link their Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards directly to their accounts for Scan-to-Pay QR payments, according to a report by YugaTech.
The feature will enable users to use their existing cards as a payment method within the GCash app, expanding the wallet's payment options beyond its own balance and linked bank accounts. This integration is expected to simplify transactions at QR-enabled merchants.
The move comes as GCash continues to broaden its ecosystem in the Philippines, where QR payments have become increasingly common. By supporting international card networks, GCash aims to give both local and foreign users more flexibility in mobile payments.
