The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has raised its funeral benefit for government workers and qualified pensioners to P50,000 for all claims, according to Philstar Biz.
The increased benefit, effective immediately, covers all eligible members and pensioners regardless of the cause of death. The GSIS said the move aims to provide greater financial assistance to families during times of bereavement.
The funeral benefit is part of the GSIS’s social insurance package for government employees, which includes life insurance and retirement benefits. The P50,000 flat rate replaces the previous tiered system, simplifying claims processing.
