Hong Kong retail sales continued to grow in the first half of 2026, rising 9.6 per cent year-on-year, according to a report from Inside Retail Asia.

The increase, however, came at a slower pace than earlier periods, pointing to a moderation in consumer spending. The data covers total retail sales value for the first six months of 2026, reflecting the impact of a cautious economic outlook on shoppers.

Hong Kong's retail sector is a bellwether for the broader economy, with tourism and domestic consumption serving as key drivers. Analysts will be monitoring second-half figures to see whether the easing momentum persists.
