House prosecutors filed a pre-trial brief on Monday in the impeachment case against Vice-President Sara Duterte-Carpio, detailing documentary evidence and at least 25 witnesses, lead prosecutor and Batangas Rep. Gerville R. Luistro announced in a news briefing, as reported by BusinessWorld.
The brief includes proposed stipulations of fact that could narrow the issues during trial, according to Luistro. "If they admit our offer for stipulation, then the trial will be faster," she said.
The filing marks a procedural step forward in the impeachment process. The Senate is expected to set a trial schedule after the submission of the brief and the defense's response.
