Police in the US have accused a Walmart shopper of stealing $1,300 worth of Lego sets by manipulating self-checkout scanners, according to a report from The Sun.
The suspect allegedly scanned a lower-priced item's barcode instead of the expensive Lego sets, allowing the theft to go unnoticed. The scheme was uncovered after a loss prevention audit revealed discrepancies in inventory.
Authorities have charged the individual with theft and are investigating whether the same method was used in other incidents. Walmart has not commented on the case.
