The BusinessWorld Insights forum, “Powering the Electric Shift,” was held last Tuesday at Makati Diamond Residences, sponsored by Aboitiz Power, Toyota, Meralco, and Nissan, and hosted by News5 anchor Jester de los Santos, as reported by Philstar Biz.
During the forum, industry leaders discussed the role of electric vehicles and renewable energy as additions to the existing fossil fuel infrastructure rather than immediate replacements. Panelists emphasized the need for a balanced energy mix that leverages the reliability of fossil fuels while gradually integrating cleaner technologies.
The event highlighted challenges such as grid capacity, charging infrastructure, and the cost of transitioning, but also underscored the long-term benefits of reducing carbon emissions. Participants called for policy support and private-sector collaboration to accelerate the adoption of EVs and renewables without disrupting energy security.
