President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. arrived in Vancouver on Thursday for a four-day official visit aimed at expanding trade and investment ties with Canada, advancing negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) and attracting investments in mining, renewable energy and other priority sectors, BusinessWorld reported.
The plane carrying Mr. Marcos and the Philippine delegation landed at Vancouver International Airport, where he is expected to meet with Canadian officials and business leaders to discuss potential investment opportunities. The visit underscores the Philippines' push to strengthen economic partnerships and secure commitments in sectors such as renewable energy and mineral processing.
The trip is part of broader efforts to finalize a bilateral free trade agreement, which the administration views as key to boosting exports and attracting foreign capital. Marcos is scheduled to return to Manila after completing his engagements in Canada.
