Maynilad Water Services Inc., the water concessionaire for Metro Manila’s West Zone, is scaling up preparations for the incoming El Niño weather phenomenon as Angat Dam reaches critical levels, according to a report by Philstar Biz.

The company said it is implementing measures to ensure water supply continuity, including optimizing operations from alternative sources such as the Laguna Lake and the Cardona Water Treatment Plant. Maynilad is also coordinating with the National Water Resources Board to manage allocation from Angat Dam, which supplies more than 90% of Metro Manila's water needs.

The water level at Angat Dam has been declining amid below-normal rainfall, raising concerns of supply shortages during the dry months ahead. Maynilad assured its customers that it is taking proactive steps to mitigate any potential service interruptions.
