Nearly all organizations in the Philippines experienced at least one cybersecurity breach in the past 12 months, according to the 2026 Global Cybersecurity Skills Gap Report released Thursday by cybersecurity firm Fortinet. The report, cited by BusinessWorld, found that 93% of surveyed organizations reported one or more breaches, with the lack of cybersecurity skills again named the top cause.
The latest figures echo previous years' findings and underscore a persistent challenge for Philippine businesses as they expand their digital operations. The skills shortage leaves organizations more exposed to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, with many firms grappling to recruit and retain qualified security personnel, according to industry observers.
Fortinet emphasized the need for organizations to invest in cybersecurity training and certification programs, and to adopt automation and managed security services to supplement in-house capabilities. The company said addressing the skills gap is critical to reducing the frequency of breaches and enhancing the country's overall cyber resilience.
