MORE than 500 individuals have completed a technical-vocational training program in Calamba, Laguna that prepares participants for entry-level roles in manufacturing, according to the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF). BusinessWorld reported that the program, Iskolar ni Juan, is a one-year course supported by Universal Robina Corp. (URC).
The training focuses on mechatronics servicing and instrumentation and control servicing, equipping graduates with skills for employment in the manufacturing sector. GBF aims to address the skills gap in the industry by providing free technical education to underprivileged youth.
The foundation noted that the program not only provides technical training but also includes values formation and work readiness sessions to ensure holistic development of the scholars. Graduates are expected to contribute to the growing demand for skilled workers in the country's manufacturing sector.
