The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday launched a smartphone-friendly platform that allows users to view the country’s meteorological conditions, aiming to help the public better prepare for weather-related hazards. BusinessWorld reported that the app, called the PAGASA National Hydro-Meteorological Observing Network (PANaHON), was entirely developed by the agency.

The PANaHON mobile app provides real-time weather data, including rainfall, temperature, and wind speed, from PAGASA’s network of observation stations. Users can also access weather warnings and forecasts, enabling them to make informed decisions during typhoons and other severe weather events. The app is available for download on both Android and iOS platforms.

This initiative aligns with PAGASA’s goal of leveraging technology to improve disaster preparedness and response. The bureau emphasized that the app is free to use and encourages the public to rely on official weather information rather than unverified sources.
