The Philippines has secured a 145,235 metric ton raw value export quota for raw cane sugar to the United States, according to a report by Philstar Biz, citing the Office of the US Trade Representative.
The quota, part of the US sugar import program, gives the Philippines the second-highest allocation among countries allowed to export raw cane sugar to the American market. This allocation remains consistent with the previous year's volume, reflecting the country's longstanding trade relationship under the program.
The continued access to the US market provides a stable outlet for Philippine sugar producers, supporting the local industry's export revenues. The allocation is expected to benefit sugar farmers and millers, particularly from major producing regions like Negros Occidental.
