Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro said on Tuesday that the Philippines is in talks with Belgium, the capital of the European Union, to fast-track the conclusion of a free trade agreement (FTA), as reported by BusinessWorld.

At a joint media briefing with Belgium Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime, Lazaro identified new areas of partnership on trade and maritime cooperation as part of the discussions.

The move is expected to boost economic ties between the Philippines and the EU, with both sides expressing optimism for a comprehensive agreement that would enhance market access and investment flows.
