The Philippines is seeking greater access to the US market for its pineapple exports, according to a BusinessWorld report. Bureau of Plant Industry Director Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban said the Department of Agriculture (DA) is awaiting word from the Federal Register, which sets the rules for shipping goods into US ports.

Mr. Panganiban declined to comment further on the process, but noted that the DA is actively pursuing expanded market access for Philippine agricultural products. Pineapple is a major export commodity for the Philippines, and the US market represents a significant opportunity for growth.

The move aligns with broader efforts by the Philippine government to diversify export destinations and strengthen trade ties with the United States. The outcome of the Federal Register review will determine the timeline for any changes in market access.
