The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) urged the Philippines not to halt digital transformation efforts despite rising cyberthreats, but instead to bolster cybersecurity through a multi-sectoral approach. In a statement reported by BusinessWorld, CICC Executive Director Renato “Aboy” A. Paraiso said, “The challenge before us is not to slow down innovation, but to secure it.”

Paraiso emphasized the need for collaboration among government agencies, private sector, and civil society to create a resilient digital ecosystem. He noted that cybersecurity should be integrated into every stage of digital adoption, from planning to implementation, rather than treated as an afterthought.

The CICC’s call comes as the Philippines accelerates its digitalization agenda in areas like e-governance and financial services. The agency stressed that proactive measures, including capacity building and threat intelligence sharing, are critical to safeguarding the country’s digital infrastructure against evolving cyber risks.
