Whoscall, a caller ID and spam-blocking app developed by Taiwan-based Gogolook, uses a verification process to display a checkmark and company name next to verified numbers, helping customers distinguish genuine calls from fraudulent ones. The feature aims to reduce the rising incidence of vishing and smishing attacks targeting policyholders and the general public.
The adoption marks a step forward in the Philippine insurance sector's efforts to enhance digital security. By implementing Verified Business Number Protection, Pioneer Insurance seeks to build customer trust and set a precedent for other financial institutions in the region facing similar scam threats.
