The Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) announced that about 21,000 metric tons (MT) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) procured from the United States has arrived in the Philippines, as part of efforts to boost the country's fuel reserves, according to a report by BusinessWorld .
In a statement on Sunday, PNOC said the LPG shipment was unloaded at the CISC Industrial Park for storage at the South Pacific, Inc. Terminal in Calaca, Batangas. The state-run firm did not disclose the total cost of the procurement but noted the delivery was part of the government's strategy to ensure energy security and stabilize domestic LPG supply.
The initiative comes amid global energy price volatility and underscores the Philippines' effort to diversify its LPG sources. PNOC said it will continue to evaluate market conditions for possible future imports to maintain buffer stocks and protect consumers from supply disruptions.
