Cash remittances from overseas Filipinos continued to rise in April, but growth slowed to its weakest pace in nearly four years, according to a report by Philstar Biz.
The slowdown reflects tighter household budgets abroad and lingering global economic uncertainty, which have tempered the ability of overseas Filipino workers to send money home. Despite the deceleration, the overall inflow remained positive.
Analysts noted that the trend could persist in the coming months if global conditions do not improve, though remittances are expected to remain a key support for domestic consumption and the Philippine peso.
