A national movement to push Senator Ana Theresia “Risa” N. Hontiveros-Baraquel for the presidency in 2028 was launched on Friday by party allies and civil society organizations, BusinessWorld reported. The Risa Na! Movement is led by Akbayan Party-list and Magdalo Party-list, with support from volunteers and grassroots sectors.
The initiative aims to build a broad coalition of supporters ahead of the 2028 national elections, highlighting Hontiveros’ track record on social justice, women's rights, and good governance. Organizers said the movement will focus on grassroots engagement and policy discussions.
Hontiveros, a veteran legislator and former Akbayan representative, has not formally declared her candidacy but has acknowledged the growing calls for her to run. The movement is expected to hold regional launches in the coming months.
