The Supreme Court has ordered NOW Telecom Co. Inc. to pay up to P136 million in unpaid user fees to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), covering arrears dating back to 2005, according to Philstar Biz.
The case involves fees that the telecommunications firm allegedly failed to remit to the regulatory body over nearly two decades. The high court's decision affirms the NTC's authority to collect such regulatory charges from telecom operators, reinforcing compliance requirements in the sector.
NOW Telecom, a subsidiary of publicly listed NOW Corporation, has yet to issue a formal statement on the ruling. The order highlights the government's ongoing efforts to enforce fee collections from telecommunications companies.
