Singapore's retail sector continued its upward trend in June, with recreational goods and jewellery emerging as the top-performing categories. According to Inside Retail Asia, recreational goods sales soared 11.4 per cent, leading all categories, while jewellery and related accessories also posted strong growth.

The latest figures reflect sustained consumer demand despite broader economic headwinds. Retail sales in the city-state have been buoyed by strong tourism arrivals and domestic spending, with categories such as sporting goods and jewellery benefiting from higher discretionary incomes. Analysts note that the double-digit growth in recreational goods signals a shift toward lifestyle and wellness spending.

The performance of these categories underscores the resilience of Singapore's retail market as it navigates global uncertainties. With the second half of the year under way, retailers are likely to focus on inventory planning and consumer trends, particularly around travel and leisure. The June data provides an optimistic indicator for the remainder of 2026.
