The Philippine Iron and Steel Institute (PISI) has asked the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to shorten the transition period for compliance with seismic resistance standards for steel, as reported by BusinessWorld.
In a letter to the DTI, PISI argued that the proposed April 30, 2027 deadline for compliance with Philippine National Standard (PNS) 49:2026 should be moved earlier to ensure timely adoption and enhance building safety in earthquake-prone areas.
