The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) announced on Monday that nearly P190 million has been invested in two municipal fish ports in Davao del Sur, which are scheduled for completion in 2027, as reported by BusinessWorld. Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr. and PFDA Acting General Manager Glen A. Pangapalan inspected the ongoing projects in the municipalities of Santa Maria and Malita.

The fish ports are part of the government's initiative to boost local fisheries infrastructure and improve post-harvest facilities. The Santa Maria fish port will feature a market building, ice plant, and cold storage, while the Malita port will include a fish landing area and auction market. Both facilities aim to reduce spoilage and increase income for local fisherfolk.

Once operational, the ports are expected to enhance trade and distribution of fishery products in the Davao region. The PFDA is overseeing the construction to ensure timely delivery, with completion targeted by 2027.
