Vivant Water has started supplying desalinated water from its seawater desalination plant in Cordova, Cebu, to the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD), providing an initial 5,000 cubic meters per day that will serve nearly 7,000 households ahead of the facility’s full commercial operations, according to a report by BusinessWorld.

The desalination plant is part of Vivant Water's efforts to address water scarcity in Metro Cebu, augmenting MCWD's supply. The initial delivery is expected to alleviate strain on existing water sources and support the utility's distribution network.

Full commercial operations of the plant are anticipated to further boost water availability in the region, benefiting both residential consumers and economic activities dependent on a reliable water supply.
