Manila Rep. Joel R. Chua, a member of the House prosecution team, said that Vice-President Sara Duterte-Carpio's defense team may lean on procedural objections during her Senate impeachment trial, as reported by BusinessWorld.
Chua noted that the defense's answer to the articles of impeachment failed to directly address the allegations, suggesting that the lack of substantive response indicates they have no answer to the charges. He expects the defense to instead raise procedural issues during the proceedings.
The impeachment trial, which stems from allegations including abuse of authority and betrayal of public trust, is set to resume in the Senate. The Vice-President's camp has yet to comment on the congressman's remarks.
