The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday reiterated its “No Collection” policy, responding to concerns raised by teachers on out-of-pocket expenses incurred for classroom preparations. The policy reminder was issued by Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” M. Angara, as reported by BusinessWorld .
Secretary Angara acknowledged that many teachers voluntarily spend their own money to support their students and schools, expressing appreciation for their dedication. However, he emphasized that the policy prohibits mandatory contributions or collections from teachers, ensuring that voluntary efforts remain truly voluntary.
The reiteration comes amid ongoing discussions on teacher welfare and the financial burden of classroom preparations. DepEd aims to reinforce the policy to protect teachers from undue financial pressure while maintaining the quality of education.
