The Economy and Development (ED) Council has approved a variation order for the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) South Extension project, the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) announced on Tuesday. The order amends certain terms of the original contract to accommodate the Common Station's operations.
According to BusinessWorld, the variation order is intended to enable the integration of the LRT-1 extension with the Common Station, which will serve multiple rail lines. The approval marks a step forward in the project's development, which aims to improve connectivity in Metro Manila.
The LRT-1 South Extension project involves extending the line from Baclaran to Bacoor, Cavite. The contract revision is expected to facilitate smoother construction and operational coordination between the two infrastructure projects.
