The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is allocating over P112 million to provide free WiFi in some of the country's tourist hotspots, according to a report by Philstar Biz.
The project aims to improve internet access in popular tourist destinations, supporting connectivity for both visitors and local communities. The funding covers the deployment of network infrastructure and related equipment in selected areas, with the DICT overseeing the initiative.
The move is part of the government's broader Free WiFi for All program, which seeks to expand public internet access nationwide, particularly in underserved and high-traffic areas. The initiative is expected to boost tourism-related digital services and enhance the overall visitor experience.
